I have to admit, I’ve never been much of a beer drinker… unless the game is on! If you guys follow me on twitter between the months of August and February, you know I’m a football fan (Geaux Saints!!). On any given Sunday during football season you can find me in a sport bar, wearing heels and my Jimmy Graham jersey, yelling at the TV screen and drinking a beer straight out the bottle like all us classy ladies do!
We’re still a few months away from the beginning of football season, but there’s still tons high excitement sporting events going on. Here in LA we have the Dodger playing ball, the Kings are doing big things on the ice and the LA Clippers are working hard to stay in the NBA Finals. The excitement is so high. I always know when a big game is on because I can hear my neighbors cheering. The Blood Orange Shandy is the perfect game day beverage. It’s a beer base drink that goes down like an artisan handcrafted cocktails. You have to make this one for all your friends who are like “I don’t drink beer.” It’s so easy to craft (beer + blood orange soda + a hint of sparking water and orange garnish) and I promise it’s the best cocktail for chic sports enthusiasts.
PS: I’m currently hosting a DIY contest in partnership with Lucky Buddha Beer. It’s a good one for all those like me who love an afternoon of crafts and cocktails. Head over to the Luck Buddha Facebook page (here) for all the details and to enter. The contest runs from now until June 4th and the top prize is $1,000 to your local craft supply store. $1,000!!!!! I’ll be posting more details soon.
The Miss Kris Blood Orange Shandy was inspired by the The Boys Club version

Looking for a fab way to spend your weekend? Suggestion… host a cocktail ‘n crafts hour with friends!!! In my opinion, quality friend time is the perfect way to knock off a few of those lingering projects on your DIY to-do list. I’ve been wanted to embellish a detachable collar for some time now, so I was very excited when my friend Sydne (from Sydne Style) mentioned that she was wanting to create one too. Cue an afternoon of crystals, cocktails and crafts!
A detachable, embellished collar is very simple to make. Use your scissors to removed the collar from an old shirt. Then, use a healthy amount of glue to apply a few Swarovski crystals to your collar. The pattern and design is completely up to your imagination.
Delicious Skinnygirl Prosecco + paper black and white straws! Pure yummy deliciousness at only 100 per serving. Cheers to that!
Thanks to Sydne for a fun afternoon of crafting and cocktailing. For more style tips check out her blog, Sydne Style.

This is by far the most festive time of the year and to celebrate may I present to you the glitziest Glitter ‘N Glue DIY tutorial of 2012!!!! This crystal cuff is the perfect project to punctuate the end of the year. It’s also the perfect accessory to wear to that special New Year’s Eve party. It’s so major I felt it warranted an afternoon of crafts and cocktails with my friends. YEA PARTY!
Then apply a drop of glue to a toothpick and use the toothpick to apply the glue to the back of the crystal. This is the application method I personally like to use. I always make a big ole mess when I apply the glue to the back of the crystal directly from the tube.
Your design may change as you continue to apply your crystals, but my suggestion is to start with the center crystal and work your way out. At the end of the day the design is totally up to you. Have fun with it and always remember the more bling the better!!
Marie from The Curvy Fashionista crafted a very tribal inspired cuff.
Seriously talk about a great way to spend an afternoon with your friends. Everyone was so creative and took the time to custom design their cuffs. Everyone’s cuff spoke to their personality and no two cuffs looked alike.
Are you excited to try this project? Well in honor of the Holidays I’m GIVING AWAY the materials to make this cuff to one lucky reader. To enter simply follow me on twitter and tweet the follow:
@Glitter_N_Glue make my Holiday sparkle! #SparklingDIY

Two of my favorites things in life are cocktails and crafts. A few weeks ago I invite over a few of my fashion blogger friends (Sydne of Think Thru Fashion, Laurie of Laurie B Style and Kelly of Buss Buss) to join me for a little of both. We sipped spiked lemonade and pulled out the bottles of Rit Dye for an afternoon of colorful crafting.
Ombre is a very popular trend for Summer and Rit Dye has an amazing blog where they tell you step by step how to achieve the ombre effect. Click here for all the dye details.
Little did we know Laurie is the QUEEN dyeing, but it’s only because she’s had years of practice. Check out her youtube page and she’ll tell you why!
Thanks Laurie for the fun video!
Craft parties are a great way to spend quality time with your friends. Crafter and author Maura Madden has a great book dedicated entirely to crafternoons. The name of her book is actually called Crafternoon: A Guide to Getting Artsy and Crafty With Your Friends All Year Long and it’s full of fun tips on getting artsy and crafty with your friends (obviously). I encourage all my readers to plan a summer crafternoon!
I had such a blast spending the afternoon with my friends. Thank you ladies for coming and playing with me! xoxo
First of all I just wanted to give a special thank you to all those who read my blog, leave comments and chat with me on twitter. I love being crafty and love being a part of this community and having the ability to share with you all. Yes, I’ve changed the name of my blog… again. I’ve had at least 8 different hair colors and hair styles over the past year so for those of you who know me this isn’t a surprise. I promise I won’t change my blog name as many times as I change my hair color, but Glitter ‘N Glue was a little more fitting of my personality. Glitter N Glue is the new Be Vain Or DIY. New name, same fun craftiness.
Thanks for being so supportive and understanding. Now… Let’s craft…
The Glitter (Our Inspiration): Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon is one of my style favorites (even though she’s 14). She has a great expression of personal style. She’s been photographed several times in her Toms glitter flats and I’m personally love my Keds black glitter Champions, but when I came upon Tulip Products Glitter Bond (available at iLoveToCreate.com) I was inspired to craft my own glitter canvas flats.
Canvas flats available at Forever 21 for only $5.50.
I invited my friend and Vainglorious co-host, Kristen Reeves over for a cocktails and crafts session and we taped the process…
This is only the 2nd video that I’ve ever edited so please forgive that it’s not perfect. I’m still learning. But yes those are her flats that I photographed! They matched better with my outfit so I “borrowed” them from her. It’s a risk you take when you come over for cocktails and crafts!
